Rehearsal Dinner @ Bryant Park

As most of you are aware, the wedding was cancelled. The bride did not postpone it, the venue did. Can you imagine looking forward to your wedding day for months, and then one day before the wedding your venue calls you to tell you that you won't be having your wedding. Calling to tell you that the wedding you have been planning for over a year isn't going to happen.

Yeah, I can't imagine. All I know is that my mom would not be happy to hear the words that would be coming out of my mouth. Now looking at it, it was the best decision the venue could have made because yesterday's weather in the city was plain awful. Sometimes a decision has to made that you can't make yourself.

We didn't get to do the rehearsal at the church but the rehearsal dinner was still on. It was an amazing time. It was nice to see that all of our spirits weren't down. Although our dear friends were not getting married the next day, we were still there to celebrate their union, and celebrate we did!

Here are a ton of pictures of the night.

The bride is on the far right with the polka-dot dress. Look at that smile :)

With the soon to be Mr & Mrs.

I love how happy I look in this picture

Can you see me behind Sean, being a creeper? Haha.

With my honey who won't be able to make the rescheduled wedding next weekend.

Jihae and Paul, I cannot wait to see you both get married next weekend. I am thrilled to be able to stand by your sides on the most special day of your lives. I know that if you can overcome a hurricane before you are even married there is no way that you won't be able to overcome anything together. I love you both!

Hurricane Irene Cancelled The Wedding

My friend is devastated. I was devastated for her. But she understands. Better safe than sorry.

The wedding has been rescheduled for next weekend.

We had the rehearsal dinner last night though. So I'll have pictures of that fun time.

NYC is so quiet right now, so unreal. Transportation shut down since noon today.

Mandatory evacuations in NYC, never thought I would live to see the day that a Hurricane would come to NYC.

We are home now.

Away from Irene, we hope.

Already 4 deaths reported. So very scary.

I've been trying to get a hold of my parents who live in the Bronx but I haven't gotten them yet. They say that the Bronx will be fine but I can't help but worry.

I hope everyone who may come in contact with Hurricane Irene is taking this seriously.

I don't know what else to say but God please keep us all safe.

Happy Weekend

Tomorrow morning, hubs and I are off to NYC for my girlfriend's wedding. I'm a bridesmaid so it's going to be a busy weekend.

Due to that, my blog will be a bit quiet for the next few days. This is when I should start thinking about guest posts to keep you lovelies entertained while I'm away.

Hope you all have fabulous weekends!

Earthquake

I just experienced my 2nd earthquake. So very real and scary. The first earthquake I experienced I was in college and it was shortly after 9/11 so automatically we thought we were under attack.

This time around I thought I was seeing things. Thought I was seeing my computer sway. I actually rubbed my eyes and sat up straight just in case. I also thought I was feeling things because I could swear the building was moving.

I looked over at my co-worker and I saw that she was doing the same thing and a few minutes later everyone is out of their chairs asking, "Do you feel that?"

We all felt it and for a moment you are unsure what to do. Should you go under your desk? Leave the building. Thank God it only lasted for a few moments so there was no time to prepare to protect yourself. But it makes me realize that I have no idea how to protect myself from an earthquake.

They say there will be aftershocks and that other cities felt the earthquake a lot harder. I hope everyone is safe and sound.

{Dinner} Swiss Stuffing Chicken

I found this recipe somewhere but I can't remember. When I first starting collecting recipes to try out, I didn't think I was going to be blogging about them so I never thought that I would have to give credit for the recipes. The only credit I can give is to say that this was damn good!

You will need:

4 large skinless boneless chicken breasts {we only used 3 because that is all we had}
6 0z Mozzarella or Swiss cheese slices {we used Mozzarella slices}
1 can of Cream of Chicken soup
1/4 cup white cooking wine
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup herb-flavored crushed up Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix {couldn't find this so I substituted with Stove Top Stuffing Mix and it tasted perfectly fine}
1/2 stick of butter, melted {used 1/4 stick of butter}

1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2.) Place uncooked chicken in shallow casserole dish and layer cheese on top

3.) Mix soup, wine, salt, pepper and pour over cheese

4.) Sprinkle stuffing mix on top and drizzle with melted butter

5.) Bake for 1 hour

{Step 4 is where I might have gone wrong. I had to cook the stuffing based on the instructions on the box and I might have put too much stuffing on the top of the chicken. The recipe only called for 1 cup and I paid no attention to that. I used the whole box, haha. It wasn't on purpose, I just didn't follow correctly. But regardless of the error, it came out so good. We will definitely be making this recipe again. Thank you, whomever you are!}

Our Future Baby

So I got this fun idea from Integrated Memoirs. She was bored so she decided to do this and well, I am bored so I decided why not?!

She went on the website Morph Thing to see how her future babies are going to look. The result was too cute so I of course wanted to see how my future babies are going to look!

Here are my results!

My girl:

The link if you want to see the picture bigger.

My boy:

The link if you want to see the picture bigger.

They are kinda cute, right?!

I wonder if my kiddos are going to look anything like that but I am positive I am going to keep this and compare for the future, hehe.

Let's Go Back, Back Into Time

Do you ever go through your computer and take a few minutes an hour to go through your pictures folder? Well, I just did. The pictures that caught my attention were the ones when hubs and I began dating.

I looked at the pictures and I wondered how we could have looked so young just 4 1/2 years ago. So, today on this blog, I decided to go back, back into time and share some of these days/pictures with you.

Also, when 85 year old Faith is looking at this blog, I am sure she would appreciate this flashback.

This picture here was our very first date as boyfriend and girlfriend. We had some dates prior to this one but we were not exclusive. Look at how happy I looked to have hooked him in my web. He had no idea what he was getting himself into, haha. These were also the days of the disposal camera. Classy.

This was our second Halloween together. At this time, I enjoyed Halloween just for the sheer fact that I could dress like a sleazeball and no one would call me a hoochie mama. Although, I highly doubt that would happen because I do believe in fist on face action. I kid, I kid.

This was Sean's first visit to NYC with me. We thought it was a good idea to have my older sister take a picture of us in the street. I promise my heart was beating.

These are the days when I didn't tell Sean it wasn't OK for him and I to dress like we were going to two completely different places. He knows better now.

Our first visit to Vegas and the trip we got engaged!

This was at Lake Placid for a huge rugby tournament. I am not sure how I got us to stay in black & white and Sean's shirt to stay pink. The shirt Sean is wearing is the Man of The Match shirt. No better way to tell a man that he did a great job by making him wear a bright pink polo shirt.

Our first Yankee game together. Surprised that we were still together after this game. My beloved Yankees lost to Sean's beloved Red Sox. Sean already knows that when we have kids they are automatically Yankee fans. No one wants their kids to get picked on for being traitors. If you are not from Boston you cannot be a Red Sox fan. Period. Also, he is not wearing his Boston Red Sox cap because I told him that someone was going to pick a fight with him because they didn't like the way he looked. He believe me because I'm from the City and all, haha.

These were the days of dancing nights and booty shorts. My legs were awesome so I understand.

This night we had a get-together at our friends house. Sean had a killer haircut and she only had penis straws. Everyone knows that the only way to drink from a blue plastic cup like a lady is to complete it with a penis straw. She had a bacherlorette party the weekend before so in her defense she doesn't just put penis straws on her grocery list. This is the reason why penis' were banned from my bacherlorette party.

Last flashback is my Halloween Surprise Party that Sean threw for me. It was at that time that I knew how much he loved me because he wore an Afro wig and he contacted all my girlfriends to come surprise me. He somehow managed to get all their information and they made it. See? I told you that Halloween was the excuse for me to be a sleazeball once a year.

I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane because I have a feeling this won't be the last time. I have a ton of pictures that I have to remind 85 year old Faith about! :)

Natural Hair Update

I have been transitioning for 7 months now. It is going a lot better than the beginning stages. I have found a few products that my hair is working really well with. I also purchased some products that my hair hated. Waste of money. This is why I can't be a product junkie. If I find something that works it is difficult to try other products. I have to find out about sample products.

My hair is getting thicker and I love it! I'm still trimming the relaxed ends and I can't wait when none of it remains. I think one of these days I am just going to chop it all off but for some reason I can't do it yet. I have gotten rid of a lot of the relaxed ends though! :)

Anyway, last picture update was in June so I have one picture from July and two from this month.

July 2011 {excuse the picture, it is a bit bright}

Morning Random Ramblings

**Before I start my random rambling this morning, I should share a picture of my house now. I guess, it would have been a clever idea to post the after in that post. But again, I have never claimed to be clever so I'll just share the after on this post. Drumroll please. OK, not so much.

Before:

After:

All I can say is that our amateur curb appeal is SO much more appealing than the one above. If only I could take pictures straight on. Looks like my house is leaning to the right. It is an old house so maybe it is, hmmm.

Anyway, on to my morning random ramblings.

1. Who in the world does NetFlix think he is making us spend more money for the same product. I think not. Redbox, here we come.

2. I wish healthy food tasted good and junk food tasted bad. Wouldn't that make more sense? Healthy = Good, Junk = Bad.

3. I wonder why I am more into House Hunters than when I was actually hunting for a home.

4. Why can't I ever buy the item on display? I always have to pick the 2nd or 3rd item behind the one on display. What will I do when the one on display is the only one left?

5. Why is it that the only pork product I can eat is bacon? Doesn't make any sense to me and for hubby who would really like to have pork-chops.

6. Why do I want a professional camera when I am not even a professional photographer?

7. Why am I loving baby blogs so much lately? Mind boggling.

8. I want a green thumb. All my plants die.

9. I can't wait to try that Beef Enchilada recipe.

10. Why did I just say that I love ice cream in the summer when we all know I love ice cream in the winter too?

p.s. Why am I talking about ice cream so early in the morning?

That Fugly Green House

Does that house look familiar to you?

If you nodded and said, Well, Faith, it sure does look like your house. Then ding, ding, ding! You are 100% correct!

This use to be my house. It is amazing what google leads you to find.

House, I'm so glad you are not the ugliest house on the block anymore.

Date Nights & Baby Showers

On Friday night, Hubs and I had date night.

We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant called "Cantina" and I decided to try something new. I ordered a fish taco with pineapple salsa. I hated it. I love fish tacos but pineapple salsa is not so appetizing. First thing I ordered there that I did not enjoy. Hubby ordered a pulled pork burrito but I don't like pulled pork so I just moved my food around until it was time to get our check. I did have delicious Sangria so it wasn't the worst dinner ever.

{Every once in a while, Sean is in the mood to take pictures of me. They rarely happen so when they do, I pose and smile. Maybe I can make him do outfit posts for me. Kidding.}

After dinner we went to the movies and saw "Friends With Benefits".

{Picture of us at the theater. Excuse Sean's creepy smile in the picture. I promise it was a lot better than the other one.}

What??? You don't believe me?!

Told you so.

The movie was really good. I enjoyed it and so did hubby. He didn't sleep through this movie at all. Third movie ever that he did not sleep through. If you like cute movies, don't mind a bit of making out, some funny lines and Justin Timberlake then you would enjoy it!

We ended date night with a stop at Wendys. This gal was starving!

My girlfriend Sasha had her baby shower today. It was fabulous. It was a blessing to celebrate this time with her because her story is truly a miracle. I am so happy for her and her hubby. They have been wanting this for so long and have tried for so long. They've gone through many loss but God blessed them this time around and I am so happy to have been a part of this special occasion in her life.

Gorgeous centerpieces. I love full, lush flowers.

Sasha with her lovely sister and beautiful mom.

Imagine how happy I was to win the gorgeous flowers because my birthday was closest to her due date. Very happy because they are so pretty and because I never win anything, haha.

Her hubby is also a rugby player.

So many presents!

It was a great weekend! Hope yours was too!

Once Upon A Time

I am loving Beyonce's new song, "Best Thing I Never Had".

It reminds me of a dumb time before Sean. A time when I thought certain people were a lot better than they actually were. A time when I thought I knew what a broken heart was or what love was.

This time involved a guy that I went to college with. I thought he was the one, he was the man I was going to marry. He turned out to be a guy I definitely didn't need in my life.

Another time involved a guy I met after college. Although, he showed that he was not the commitment type, I was sure that I was going to change him. He was going to realize that I was perfect for him and we were going to live happily ever after.

As Beyonce says in her song:

"Thank God you blew it
Thank God I dodged the bullet
I'm so over you
So baby good lookin' out"

When I met Sean, I was a bit jaded so he didn't have the easiest time getting to know me. To be honest, I am surprised that he stuck around. If I were him, I would have jumped ship and said adios as quickly as possible.

Everything was just so easy and before Sean, I never knew it could be that easy. I was having the perfect relationship. When I realized he wasn't going anywhere because he sincerely liked me, my jadedness began to disappear.

How thrilled am I that my heart was "broken". How ecstatic am I that my definition of love was all wrong.

I'm So Excited Right Now!

It's for a very strange reason too.

Well, I'm watching "Newsies" on Showtime. It is one of my absolute, most favorite movies. I watched it so much when I was younger, that I literally wore the video out.

Wanna know a secret? I wanted to be a boy when I watched this movie because I wanted to be in it sooooo badly, haha.

Strange gal I was!

But I kid you not, I have the biggest smile on my face and I even remember some of the dance moves. I may or may not be doing the dances and singing the songs in my living room.
